Premier Inn rated best UK hotel chain


Which? reigning champion Premier Inn, which topped the table for the fourth year running, came out with a customer score of 79%.

Premier Inn guests rated the chain five stars for cleanliness, five stars for the comfort of its beds, and five stars for customer service.

It offers a continental breakfast, with fruit, cereal, or freshly-baked pastries, and a full English, with bacon, sausages and eggs, hash browns, beans and black pudding,

The Whitbread-owned company is the UK's largest hotel brand, which has more than 785 hotels with 72,000 rooms. The group plans to have 85,000 rooms by 2020.

Its budget rival, Travelodge, struggled to compete, despite it being the cheapest hotel in our survey – with guests paying £63 a night on average.

Travelodge was described as ‘convenient’ and ‘basic’, with guests complaining that many of the properties don’t have a restaurant on site. Instead, breakfast on-the-go is offered or, as one of you summed it up, ‘a cardboard box with cornflakes and Nescafé powder’.
