LabTech launches Camden Eats app offering virtual community canteens

The owner of 16 acres of real estate in Camden, LabTech has today announced the launch of its new ‘Camden Eats’ app. Camden Eats will allow users to order from over 100 central London food retailers from their mobile device.

Group ordering, rewards and a benefit scheme makes the app a must have for not only consumers, but also businesses looking to offer their employees a ‘virtual canteen’ with subsidised food.

People have a choice of the finest food that Camden has to offer with more than 50 participating market sellers, including Burger & Beyond – quite possibly the best burger in London – and Only Jerkin’, a Jamaican twist on chicken and chips. Also available are larger chains such as Wasabi, Tossed and K10, giving customers one of the largest selection of takeaway brands available for click and collect in Central London.

This app is the latest component in LabTech’s impressive tech platform, which enables the creation of urban communities that can share ideas and resources, do business, relax and enjoy entertainment and food.

This launch follows the acquisition of food ordering app Redi, in a deal that brought with it Dan Jones and his team, with over 20 years of combined industry experience. The app had an existing network of food retailers and an engaged customer base, while boasting impressive technology.

Camden Eats Director, Dan Jones, said, 'The idea for the app came from the team’s personal experience while working in the City of London and in Camden, where we had little time to spare for lunch breaks, facing long queues and outdated paper loyalty cards. That’s when we decided to create a mobile platform that would save people time while providing them with ample food choices and a convenient digital loyalty system.”

The Camden Card loyalty programme is integrated with the app through a new digital version of the card. Users gain the ability to skip queues, get great discounts at over 50 traders in Camden and many more lunch deals across central London, and earn 1-2% cash-back on every purchase, to be redeemed in app, through a loyalty point system.

Jones continued, “The Camden Eats app will give companies and their employees the perfect platform to quickly order food from a range of local retailers. These people want convenience and choice - we offer them both and reward them as they spend.”

The Camden Eats app offers features unique to the UK, such as the group ordering functionality ‘Buddy Up’. This allows users to create teams and for any team member to start an order, which can then be joined by their colleagues. The host of an order will collect for the entire group and is rewarded with bonus loyalty points for bringing back the food to the office.
