Radio Alice launches vegan pizza with Alexandra Dudley

Hoxton and Clapham-based pizzeria brand Radio Alice has created a one-off vegan pizza with cookbook author Alexandra Dudley to celebrate Veganuary.

Brothers Matteo and Salvatore Aloe have always taken a more inventive approach to their pizzas. From being the first pizzeria in Italy to serve sourdough pizzas back in 2010, to putting organic ingredients front and centre since the very beginning, their attention to the rising importance of veganism has been no exception.

The Aloe's have included a vegan pizza on the menu since they opened Radio Alice in Hoxton in 2016, regularly changing the toppings to run with the season.

The brothers have teamed up with Alexandra Dudley who’s creation uses Matteo’s sourdough base, which is fermented for 24 hours, topped with onion squash, charred broccoli, pickled onions, a tarragon and cashew pesto, and piquant chillies.

Matteo Aloe said, “Alexandra has been a huge supporter of Radio Alice over the last couple of years, so we’re really pleased to be kicking off 2019 with her guest pizza. As a meat eater myself, I’ve loved experiencing the evolving vegan food scene here in London, it’s full of interesting restaurants, pop-ups and street-food and I’m glad we can be a small part of that.”

Dudley added, “Radio Alice’s approach to making pizza aligns so closely with my own attitude to cooking, using sustainable, seasonal ingredients and gathering friends and families together for a big old dinner party. Pizzas are brilliant vehicles for interesting ingredients and flavours and I’m excited to share my creation with you all in January.”

Dudley’s Onion squash, smoked broccoli, pickled onion and cashew pesto is available at Radio Alice Hoxton and Radio Alice Clapham throughout January.
