JD Wetherspoon is to put 16 of its sites on the market, 14 of which are Wetherspoon-branded pubs and the other two are Lloyds No1 bars.

The group reported pre-tax profits of £50.3m for the six months to January 27 in its latest trading results. That marked an annual decline of 19%, which the firm blamed on an increase in staff wages.
The company operates nearly 900 pubs, including the chain of Lloyds No1 bars, and a growing number of Wetherspoon hotels.
