TRG Chief Marketing Officer becomes Deliveroo GM for Ireland

Deliveroo, the food delivery app service, has today announced that Michael Healy, formerly Chief Marketing Officer of FTSE 250-listed The Restaurant Group, has taken over the reins for Deliveroo as General Manager in the Republic of Ireland.

The Restaurant Group (TRG) is the UK’s largest listed casual dining company including brands such as Wagamama in its portfolio. Healy, who is from Kilmacud in Dublin, comes with a wealth of experience in e-commerce having previously been Commercial Director at Paddy Power.

The appointment follows Deliveroo’s announcement of its most recent financing round of $575mm and comes as the company prepares to accelerate its expansion in Ireland, and outer Dublin area in particular. The company plans to reach at least 200,000 more households by the end of 2019 compared to the start of the year. This expansion underlines how ambitious Deliveroo is for Ireland.

This week Deliveroo announced that it will be offering new and extended delivery hours, meaning that from today Dublin residents can order from the likes of KFC, Supermacs and Papa John’s and have it delivered directly to their doors as late as 3 am. This will yet again expand choice for consumers. This will be followed later this year by a click and collect service, further increasing customer choice and revenue for its restaurant partners.

Dan Warne, Managing Director for UK and Ireland, said, “Michael is a real star hire and we’re very happy to have him on-board. Deliveroo is highly ambitious in Ireland, and I know the team there absolutely dedicated to reaching even more customers to bring them a wider selection of amazing restaurants, whenever and wherever they want.”

Healy said, 'I'm delighted to be joining Deliveroo at such an exciting time. I can't wait to work with the Dublin team to bring Deliveroo’s service to ever growing numbers of Irish consumers. Consumers are rapidly changing how they buy and eat food. Deliveroo is at the leading edge of responding to these changing needs and I couldn't pass up on the opportunity to be part of this journey.'
