Honest Burgers co-founders, Tom Barton and Philip Eeles, have just announced the launch of their newest Honest Burgers restaurant, launching on London EC2's Liverpool Street next Monday, on 4 November.
Situated in the heart of the City at Old Broad Street, the 136-cover restaurant is Honest’s newest opening, following the launch of Manchester, Liverpool, London Bridge and Cardiff earlier this year.
As with all Honest Burgers restaurants, Barton and Eeles are committed to championing local suppliers, producers and traders at Liverpool Street.
The duo have created a local special burger in collaboration with local street food heroes, Babek Brothers, and a cocktail in collaboration with local whisky bar, Black Rock Tavern, who are offering special ‘coins’ for the first thousand sold. The coins can be exchanged for a double ‘Maker’s Mark’ in London’s first and only whisky vending machine at Black Rock Tavern.
Honest has joined forces with British kebab specialists, Babek Brothers for the local special to develop a one-off burger, exclusive to the new site. The ‘Liverpool St’ combines Babek-spiced Honest beef with British halloumi, red pepper relish, tomato, white cabbage, garlic mayo and pink pickled onions. Served with Honest’s signature homemade rosemary salted chips, because chips aren’t an extra; they’re an essential.
For those looking to add some heat to their meal, there will also be a bottle of Babek’s hot sauce collaboration with Peckham Sauce Co on every table.
As for the drinks, Honest has teamed up with local whisky bar, Black Rock Tavern to create the ‘Oakey Cokey’ - a smoky-sweet whisky cocktail using Maker’s Mark Kentucky bourbon, Fever-Tree Madagascan Cola and cherry bitters.
To celebrate the collaboration, the first thousand Oakey Cokey drinks sold at the new restaurant will come with a coin that can be taken to Black Rock Tavern, where it can be redeemed in London’s first and only whisky vending machine to claim a double measure of Maker’s Mark ‘on the house’.
The whisky can be taken home or put in the capable hands of the Black Rock bartenders, who will use it to create something special. The Oakey Cokey will sit alongside alongside a curated selection of beers from Honest’s friends at 40FT Brewery in Dalston: the Lager, the Päle and Disco Pils)
Ahead of the launch, Eeles said, “We only open restaurants in buildings we really love. There’s been a restaurant on this site for over 125 years – it’s got an old school vibe and a bright, open plan dining room with a big basement. And right next to Liverpool St station too.
'We’re open till midnight Thursday and Friday so no excuse to go home hungry after post-work beers.”
