MasterChef: The Professionals 2019 winner to open restaurant

MasterChef: The Professionals 2019 winner Stu Deeley is stepping down as Head Chef at The Wilderness in Birmingham, to open his own restaurant in the same city.

The chef revealed he would be opening a venue in the Jewellery Quarter in February or March 2020.

Deeley told the Birmingham Mail, 'I chose the Jewellery Quarter as the location for my restaurant because it's affordable. Being a new business it's quite risky to open in the centre. I have a backer in place and we have found a site we like and are in talks.

'I didn't want to carry on working for someone else - I want to create something for Jack's future. Now is the right time.'

He expanded, 'It will be about food that pays homage to Birmingham and its international influences - food I've cooked on MasterChef and at The Wilderness.

'My restaurant will look quite industrial and reflective of Birmingham's rich history - what is was and what it is now.

'I have an idea for a restaurant name. It will be very much reflective of the type of Brummie fusion food I'll be serving.'
