McDonald’s UK reports growth in Q3

McDonald’s UK has made a statement regarding its Q3 Results 2019.

Paul Pomroy, CEO McDonald’s UK & Ireland, (pictured), said, “Together with our franchisees, and thanks to the hard work of all our people, I’m pleased to share that we have achieved a further quarter of growth.

'In today’s world, this is not something that happens by chance – it is because we have stayed focussed on the things that matter to our customers; great tasting food, great value, great service and unparalleled convenience.

“Convenience has been, and is, key to driving our growth – being where our customers want, when they want. We’ve continued to invest in the formats that our customers recognise and will have opened 40 new drive thru and high street restaurants this year by the end of 2019.

'We’ve also been trialling a new format this quarter – ‘McDonald’s to Go’, a small urban store, takeaway only with a limited menu and focussed on speed of service, perfect for city workers. The results of this test have been encouraging.'

Pomroy continued, “Our restaurant estate has been complemented by the continued expansion of our home delivery service, McDelivery, which is now available in 950 restaurants, and accounts for just over 10% of our business.

'We were delighted to celebrate a record day for delivery this quarter, on the 18th September, when over 124,000 orders were placed. As we continue on our digital journey, our My McDonald’s app is becoming even more popular with 3.6 million downloads since it launched a year ago.

“No matter where an order is placed – in restaurants, at the drive thru or through the app, our food and our people are absolutely key to the McDonald’s experience. We have an iconic menu that has stood the test of time, but customers also respond well when we introduce small twists on much-loved classics.

'This quarter our Spicy McNuggets and Double Quarter Pounder with cheese drove particularly strong performance. Behind all of this, our people remain the heart of our business, with increasing numbers in customer experience roles; blending hospitality with convenience. They are key to our success and we will continue to invest in and create opportunities for our workforce.'

Pomroy concluded, “We are entering the festive period with momentum behind us. As we end 2019 and enter a new decade, I am confident that our customer-led and people-focussed approach will see us enjoy continued success.”
