Second UK Haribo factory to create 300 jobs

Haribo, the world’s largest sweet manufacturer is preparing to open its second factory in the UK, as they begin to employ up to 300 new staff.

The new build factory will be constructed at Normanton near Leeds after the 46 acre site was bought by the German company last year for £6m. A 500,000 sq ft and distribution centre will now be built on the land and it is understood that a number of construction companies are now tendering for the contract for the build. The company was given a grant from the Regional Development Agency in April 2011 towards funding the new factory.

Haribo currently employs 500 people at its site in Pontefract. There are 16 Haribo factories around the world with a turnover of more than £1bn.
