Anglia Crown debuts wholegrain carbohydrate range


Anglia Crown, a prepared meal manufacturer, has added 11 new products to its extensive portfolio of prepared meals for the care and healthcare markets, including the launch of wholegrain carbohydrates into its mainstream ranges.

This is to support current public health advice to choose wholegrain carbohydrates, as advocated in the government’s Eatwell Guide. Figures from The National Diet and Nutrition Survey (2018) reveal that no age group of consumer in the UK is currently meeting their recommended intake of fibre. In addition, many consumers don’t know how much fibre they should be eating or where to find it.

The new Anglia Crown products, launching at the Hospital Caterers Association (HCA) forum on 2-3 April in Liverpool, are part of Anglia Crown’s Crown Advantage and Crown Choice ranges.

Three of the 11 new dishes are available in the individual frozen Crown Advantage range, and feature a beef and black bean sauce with a blend of white and wholegrain rice, a chicken arrabiata fusilli wholemeal pasta dish and a soya mince wholemeal pasta bolognaise. These come presented in award-winning Torus Pak™ packaging, with its easy to use removable base. The new wholegrain carbohydrate mains complement Anglia Crown’s reduced sugar wholemeal sponge desserts.

Of the remaining eight dishes, all available in the multiportion frozen and chilled Crown Choice range, six can be served with the two new wholegrain rice accompaniments. These include a steak and mushroom stroganoff, pork in smoked paprika sauce, and soya mince chilli. In this range, Anglia Crown is introducing its hottest meal yet with the debut of a sweet and spicy chicken in chipotle sauce.

Also new to the range are two wholegrain rice sides, along with one improved recipe - taking its Crown Advantage chicken korma dish into its Crown Choice range.

Anglia Crown expects the spicier dishes to be popular with adolescents and adults alike. The soya mince pasta bolognaise, soya mince chilli, and wholegrain rice side dishes are all vegan suitable and registered with the Vegan Society to complement Anglia Crown’s extensive range of vegan suitable meals already available.

All 11 dishes have been developed and perfected by Anglia Crown’s team of food technologists with guidance from the company dietitian.

The new innovative dishes, including wholegrain carbohydrates, will be unveiled and available to sample at the HCA Forum stand no.67.
