Barchester Healthcare acquires 11 Four Seasons care homes

Administrators from Mazars have completed the sale of 11 care homes across the South of England to Barchester Healthcare.

The administrators were appointed to 11 companies which operate 44 care homes formerly run by Four Seasons Health Care Group, in December 2019.

Four Seasons announced the transfer of an additional 58 care homes to new operators in March as part of its ongoing portfolio restructuring after appointing administrators at its holding companies in April 2019.

Rebecca Dacre, Director at Mazars, said, “Since our appointment in December 2019, Barchester Healthcare has managed 11 care homes on our behalf.

'We thank them for their efforts during this time, and we are pleased to confirm the sale of these 11 care homes, ensuring continuity of care for nearly 500 residents, and safeguarding the jobs of nearly 600 employees.”

The remaining 33 care homes are being run by three separate management firms, and the administrators anticipate sales of all sites as going concerns.

A Barchester spokesperson said, “Barchester Healthcare is delighted to confirm that the acquisition of 11 care homes and three redevelopment sites from the Four Seasons Health Care Group is complete.

'These homes represent an exciting growth opportunity, adding 483 registered beds to the Barchester portfolio which currently has 226 care homes and private hospitals already.

'We are proud to say that since taking over the management of these homes, on behalf of the administrator, in December 2019, we have significantly improved the quality of care in these homes and we would like to formally welcome the staff, residents and their families to the Barchester family now we have ownership, and thank them for their support during this process.”
