Dominos trials hand-stretched vegan dough

Domino’s pizza chain is trialling two new vegan-friendly recipes in 46 stores across the UK and Ireland from today.

Initially building on two popular vegetarian menu options, the new plant-based Vegan Margherita will be made using Domino’s very own vegan cheese alternative, as well as its signature vine ripened tomato sauce.

The Vegan Vegi Supreme will stay true to the original, adorned with a rainbow of fresh vegetables, including mushrooms, sweetcorn, onions, green & red peppers and tomatoes.

The food innovation crew in Domino’s test kitchen, located in the heart of the head office, have been working hard to incorporate the feedback from a previous trial after which the pizza giant decided the dough wasn’t yet up to scratch.

A year later, both new vegan recipes use an improved freshly made dough to replicate the unmistakable Domino’s taste millions of fans know and love.

Aman Prasher, Domino’s Chief Vegan Dough Developer said: “Our vegan offering has been a while coming because we’re determined to make sure it’s full of our iconic Domino’s flavour. We might not be first but we’re always the best – no compromises.

'Our dedicated pizza chefs are incredibly excited for our fans to try this new and improved latest dough as we believe we’ve nailed it. If they agree, and love it as much as we do, Domino’s will roll out nationwide. We’ve now busy working on some toppings and sides -so watch this space!”

Fans will also be able to customise their pizzas with any Vegan Friendly topping, choosing items such as onions, fresh tomatoes, jalapeno peppers and even the ever-divisive pineapple to make it their own.

The trial Vegan Friendly range will be available in a medium size and will be complimented by Domino’s BBQ dip (Vegan) and is priced the same as non-vegan equivalents.

Both the Vegan Vegi Supreme and Vegan Margherita can be ordered from participating stores through the Domino’s app and the website via contact-less delivery from today.
