OYO keeps hotel rooms open for permitted purposes this month

OYO hotels has today flagged up that many of its sites are remaining open over the next month for approved purposes.

A spokesperson for the group commented, “OYO Hotels is making rooms available for essential workers, those travelling on business and those in need of interim accommodation during the November lockdown, just as we did throughout the spring.

'Two thirds of the affordable rooms at our small and mid-sized independent hotels across England remain open; and we will work with our partners to open more hotel rooms according to local needs.

'OYO is engaging directly with councils, local authorities and businesses to offer long-stay rates and cater to group requests as well as taking individual bookings from those travelling for approved purposes. We are committed to offering all guests a safe and hygienic place to stay.”

OYO kept thousands of rooms open across the UK from late March to early July for similar purposes. Below is some feedback the group received from those who utilised those rooms.

Cardiff Council stated, “Cardiff Council is extremely grateful to OYO for working with us as part of our emergency response to keeping vulnerable people safe during the coronavirus pandemic.

“From the start of March, the Council used the OYO hotel in the city to provide en suite accommodation for clients living in hostels where social distancing would not be possible and to help people sleeping rough off the streets.

“The quality of the accommodation has no doubt played an important role in the great progress we have made tackling homelessness during this challenging period, when more people than ever before have engaged with support services to help them rebuild their lives.”

Posted on LinkedIn this week by Glen Freeman on behalf of Response Accommodation - a supplier of emergency accommodation to support key workers and vulnerable people, “Response Accommodation are truly thankful for the wonderful experience of working with OYO UK across several programmes at these challenging times.

“Those who we have worked with have shown a great balance between delivering for the benefit of their business whilst providing much valued corporate social responsibility.

'Thanks so much to the entire team who have excelled for our guests over this time. Claire Hart and I are proud of you OYO and all you have contributed.”
