Sainsbury’s unveils revamped Leeds store


Sainsbury’s has revealed its new look Leeds Colton supermarket - a district of east Leeds, following months of refurbishment works. The store opened its doors to customers and held a ceremony with store colleagues to celebrate.

The renovation work and new offerings, including a a new-look cafe and new patisserie counter, have been rolled out to provide customers with more convenience and choice. The store’s chilled refrigeration cabinets and supporting infrastructure were also completely replaced to improve efficiency and save energy.

The store also benefits from a new market-style produce department by the entrance, as well as a new Groceries Online facility, which will enable the store to increase online delivery capacity in the local area. Customers can also now choose to Click & Collect orders at the new covered collection point in the car park.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Property Director, said, “This extensive renovation at our Leeds Colton store is another great example of how we are putting food back at the heart of Sainsbury’s in a way that greatly improves the shopping experience for our customers and our colleagues.

'The Colton store has served the local community for over 26 years and we have made every effort to ensure this investment will enable it to continue doing so for many years to come.

'This store provides colleagues and customers with a safe and convenient refreshed shopping destination and we have invested in the latest technology to reduce our energy consumption and do our part for the environment.”
