Petersham Nurseries launches new afternoon tea

Petersham Nurseries Richmond has launched a Garden Afternoon Tea, available every Friday to Sunday. Departing from tradition and set to the backdrop of the nurseries’ abundant and wild gardens, the afternoon tea is a celebration of nature, with nourishing and wholesome recipes..

Guests can expect simple savoury and sweet dishes that change with the seasons. There’s crispy sourdough with prosciutto; roasted red pepper tartlet with mascarpone and pea shoots; goat’s cheese on fruit loaf with candied walnuts and pickled shallots; and focaccia with fior di latte, nasturtiums and sunflower seeds.

Next, buttermilk scones come with clotted cream and house-made preserves such as gooseberry jam, followed by a selection of sweet treats featuring summer flavours such as meringue with charred Petersham grapes and tarragon syrup; lemon polenta cake with yoghurt and gooseberries and cherry and almond tart.

To drink, the afternoon tea will be paired with a choice of loose-leaf tea and you can add a Petersham rose petal bellini.

On fine days throughout the summer, tables and chairs scatter the courtyard and diners can enjoy their afternoon tea alfresco, while in the winter months, afternoon tea will be served inside the heated bougainvillea and jasmine-filled greenhouse.

Petersham Nurseries Garden Afternoon Tea is available every Friday to Sunday from 12.00pm to 2.45pm. Afternoon tea can be booked for up to 12 guests.
