Rick Stein Restaurants launches online fish shop

Rick Stein Restaurants has just opened its online fish shop; making seasonal and sustainably caught fish and shellfish available across the UK. With 45 years of experience in sourcing, preparing and cooking British seafood the Stein’s Online Fishmonger will stock the very best native fish, along with lots of information and videos on how to prepare and cook everything.

Produce is packed on icepacks, boxed and delivered chilled. Customers can browse the virtual fish counter and purchase as little or as much as they please, all of which can be frozen and enjoyed at a later date.

Catering for the home cook to the seasoned chef, Stein’s Online Fishmonger offers produce like whole Plaice, Dover and Lemon Sole - starting from £7 - to ready-prepped fillets of Hake, Lemon Sole and Cod. There is also Bass, Red Mullet and John Dory as well as shellfish like Dressed Crab, Mussels, Lobster, Oysters & Scallops. There are two types of Smoked Salmon and splendid Smoked Pâtes. There is also a selection of mixed fish boxes combining fillets, shellfish and seafood (from £40).

Rick and Jack Stein’s recipes and short ‘how-to’ videos accompany all fish and shellfish ordered. Available via QR code, customers can learn how to get the perfect crispy skin, de-beard Mussels, master the art of filleting or deboning whole fish.

On the launch Rick Stein said, “I know that even the keenest cook can find the prospect of preparing and cooking fish at home a little daunting. We want to help allay these fears, with practical advice, step-by-step techniques and recipes to go alongside some of the finest, freshest fish available. Over the years I’ve worked and come to know many of the fishermen around the Cornish coast. I am proud to be able to support their trade in bringing it online for people up and down the country to enjoy.”

To continue to protect the world’s oceans, Stein’s Online Fishmonger will donate £1 from every order over £50 to new marine conservation charity, The Dive Project: a charity which educates future generations on the importance of the planet’s marine environment. This enables teenagers to attend once in a lifetime trips to Cornwall, learning to dive with marine industry experts, and establishing the next generation of ‘Ocean Influencers’.
