New Sainsbury’s Local arrives in Nottingham’


Sainsbury’s has just opened a new Local store on one of the UK’s busiest pedestrian shopping streets, Clumber Street, in Nottingham city centre.

Manager Chris Grace is overseeing the 1,950 sq ft site, which offers over 2,000 products and will serve customers from 7am–11pm seven days a week.

Grace said, “My team and I have been working hard to get the new store ready for opening and we’re really looking forward to becoming key part of this bustling community. I know our commitment to brilliant service well help us become a customer favourite on Clumber Steet in no time.”

Local residents, workers and shoppers will now have the opportunity to pick up a bite to eat from Sainsbury’s delicious selection of sandwiches and ‘food to go’, as well as choose a freshly made drink from a self-service Costa coffee machine or orange juicer. The store will also stock an excellent range of fresh food, fruit and vegetables, in store bakery and other household grocery products.

Sainsbury’s has a long history of serving the community from Nottingham city centre and the 23 colleagues that make up the Clumber Street team will play an active role in the local area, as well as supporting Sainsbury’s nationwide charity partners and volunteering programmes.

The new Local’s arrival on Clumber Street follows Sainsbury’s recent announcement that it will also be opening its new supermarket in nearby Colwick next month, on 10 November.

Both stores are part of a multimillion-pound programme of investments Sainsbury’s is making in Nottinghamshire, which also includes the refurbishment of some exisitng Sainsbury’s stores in the area.

'Soon to follow will be Sainsbury’s next major investment in Nottingham, our 53k sq. ft supermarket with over 200 colleagues in Colwick, which will open its doors to customers on 10th November.”
