Honest Burgers pops up in Leeds for the summer

A special Honest Burgers pop-up has launched at Northern Monk Refectory Leeds ‘Old Flax Store’ and will run all summer.

Just in time for the great British summer, Honest are taking over the kitchens and serving up their great British burgers, a perfect accompaniment to Northern Monk’s beers, that can be enjoyed in their Refectory 6 days a week.

Honest and Northern Monk have collaborated on two local specials, exclusive to the popup:

> The Northern Monk – Honest beef, bacon, Heathen Hazy IPA beer cheese (a house fondue mix of cheddar, mozzarella and emmental, with Northern Monk Heathen Hazy IPA added instead of wine), curry sauce, shoestring fries, Faith Hazy Pale Ale pickled onions and rocket.

> The Roast - available only on Sundays, this special includes all your favourite roast flavours: the Honest beef patty, bacon, cheesy leeks, horseradish cream, mini rosemary roasties, savoy cabbage and Honest’s signature bacon gravy.

Both burgers are priced at £14 and Honest’s signature homemade rosemary salted chips are included in the price.

A brand new locally exclusive side has also been created, a perfect accompaniment to Northern Monk’s taproom beers: Chips, Beer Cheese & Bacon Gravy - Honest’s homemade rosemary salted chips tossed in Heathen Hazy IPA beer cheese and finished with bacon gravy - priced at £5.50.

Northern Monk is an independent brewery based in Holbeck, Leeds - the spiritual heart of the industrial revolution. Inspired by their northern surroundings and the history of monastic brewing practiced in the region for thousands of years, they combine traditional monastic brewing values with a progressive approach to ingredients and techniques.

Northern Monk produce a range of core beers, including their flagship Hazy Pale Ale 'Faith', over 12 unique beer releases per month, and operate taprooms in Leeds and Manchester - the latter being a site for an Honest Burgers popup in 2019.

Adam Layton, Head of Brand Collaboration at Honest Burgers Brighton, said, 'Honest Burgers at Northern Monk is our introduction to Leeds ahead of our restaurant launch on Cloth Hall Street later this summer.

'The brewery pop-up is the first in a series of collabs with Northern Monk this year and the only place you'll be able to try our new beer-laden local burger, which features homemade Heathen Hazy IPA beer cheese and Faith Hazy Pale Ale pickled onions. #

'Heathen's sweet fruit character is a great match for cheese and the beer and lemon-infused pickled onions highlight Faith's citrus hops, cutting through the other rich ingredients.'

Russell Bisset, Founder of Northern Monk, said, “It’s always been a treat to pop into Honest Burgers whenever we’re on the road for festivals and tap takeovers, and their Northern Monk Manchester Refectory pop-up in 2019 was a huge staff favourite - so the news that they were opening in Leeds was super welcomed.

'Not only that, but being able to host them in the Leeds Refectory - and wash down some of their incredible burgers with fresh pints of Faith - is a dream come true!”

The pop-up's opening hours are:
12-10pm Tue-Thu (Kitchen 12-9pm)
12-11pm Fri-Sat (Kitchen 12-9pm)
12-9pm Sun (Kitchen 12-6pm)
