Award-winning c-store operator to launch new flagship store in Cambridgeshire

An experienced, award-winning convenience retailer is set to launch a new flagship store in Cambridgeshire just in time for Christmas.

Siva Thievanayaga, who operates a series of Nisa Local stores in the area, is closing down the 3,000 sq.ft. site in Stanground, Peterborough this weekend to undertake a major refurbishment programme.

Currently trading under a Simply Local fascia, the brand-new convenience store will re-open as a Nisa Local, boasting a much-improved customer offer including an impressive range of food and drinks to go and an extensive chilled and frozen range.

The overhaul, which is expected to take around five weeks to complete, will see the interior of the store ripped out and replaced with new fixtures and fittings to create a contemporary and inviting shop for local people.

The store is scheduled to launch under its new fascia in early December with a full convenience offer incorporating strong promotional deals and a large Co-op own brand range.

Thievanayagam bought the store in 2020 and has traded it in its existing state for three years but always with a plan to invest and update. He said now is the right time to develop and to give the community a store they can be proud of.

“The store standard really needs improving and bringing up to date. I want to give shoppers the full convenience offer with a focus on food to go and plenty of great deals.

“I’m very excited to get the project underway and am looking forward to welcoming the community into the store when we launch in December.”
