LACA encourages school caterers to go veggie

LACA, the school food people, is encouraging school chefs and caterers to go green during day two of National School Meals Week (7-11 November).

The demand for plant-based meals continues to increase as more people adopt a 'flexitarian' approach to eating with vegetarianism and veganism gaining in popularity too. These changes are being driven by concerns about health, the environment and animal welfare.

Brad Pearce, chair of LACA, remarked, “Here we are, its day two of National School Meals Week and its our go green lunch. As we know there has been a huge increase in the amount of plant-based items being used on school menus so this is your opportunity as members and suppliers show us exactly what you are using on your menus.”

LACA is encouraging school caterers to share their go green menus and dishes by tagging @NSMW on social media and using the hashtags #NationalSchoolMealsWeek #MakeADifference.
