Berber & Q to host Turkey & Syria earthqauke appeal dinner

On Monday, 27 February, Berber & Q, the Mediterranean and North African inspired grill house from brothers Josh and Paul Katz and Mattia Bianchi, will host a collaborative dinner, paying homage to the regional dishes from culinary cities hit by the earthquake.

This will be followed by a ticketed prize draw, with all proceeds going to Choose Love, supporting the charity’s work with the ongoing crisis in Turkey and Syria.

The dinner has been created in collaboration with Ramael Scully of Scully, Chris Leach of Manteca, Luke Findlay of Supa Ya Ramen, Helen Graham of Bubala, and Berber & Q’s Executive Chef, Jeremy Borrow.

All proceeds wil be going towards supporting the local, grassroots organisations on the ground in Turkey and Syria, helping their communities who have been affected by the disaster.

Josh and friends have devised a menu in honour of some of Turkey and Syria’s most loved dishes including tofu whip with caramelised hispi cabbage and smoked chicken butter by Luke Findlay, followed by BBQ Tavuk Sis with four chilli and pumpkin seed miso, apricot umeboshi and tabbouleh from Ramael Scully and Josh and Jeremy’s take on a traditional Adana kebab, served with ezme salad and pickles.

Mattia will work with neighbouring distilleries 58Gin and Waterford organic whisky on a curated cocktail list alongside Les Caves De Pyrenne and Sager & Wine on a wine pairing menu and for those looking for a non-alcoholic alternative, Something & Nothing will be on hand with refreshing hibiscus and rose spritzes and seltzers.

Tickets for the East London Earthquake Appeal are priced at £100 and will include the five course menu and drinks for the evening. In further support of the cause, following dinner, Berber & Q will also host a prize draw with all guests offered the chance to take part in a ticketed raffle with the chance of winning an array of incredible prizes.

Josh shared, “It’s been awful to watch the continued aftermath of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria and how many lives have been affected. We’ve teamed up with a number of chefs who share the same passion as us in supporting the people of Turkey and Syria whose lives have been changed by this devastating earthquake.”
