Rainer Becker and Arjun Waney announce further Oblix details

Ten years since bringing their modern Japanese concept Zuma to London, Rainer Becker and Argun Waney have released more details regarding their new venture at London’s Shard. The celebrated duo is to open Oblix in early May.

Situated on the 32nd floor of the Shard, the restaurant will be divided into two distinct spaces, a 100-seat restaurant and 100-cover lounge bar, with live entertainment from 9pm. The kitchen is headed up by Fabien Beaufour, who previously worked at the
three-Michelin starred restaurants the French Laundry and Eleven Madis on Park.

The menu is inspired by New York Grill and will feature slow-roasted meat joints from a spit roast, as well as dishes from a charcoal grill and pizzas and breads from a wood-fired oven. In addition to the à la carte menu in the main restaurant, the bar and lounge will offer a selection of lunchtime appetisers in the style of a New York deli.

Front of house will be overseen by general manager Scott Ward, with Thomas Dosseur managing restaurant and Kathryn Waring in charge of the bar.

Oblix is one of three restaurants at the Shard, the others being a restaurant from Aqua Restaurant Group and the 202-bedroom Shangri-La hotel which will offer four food and beverage outlets.
