Caterer Searcys will be opening the Centenary Bar and Brasserie at The Repertory Theatre in central Birmingham next month as part of a £13m contract.
The company will provide all catering at the venue, also known as The Rep, which has recently undergone a two and a half year refurbishment. This will include catering for conferences and private events, as well as the 90-cover restaurant, terrace and on-site café and bars, over the next five years.
The kitchen will be overseen by Michelin-starred chef, Paul Welburn (pictured left), former head chef at Gary Rhodes’ flagship restaurant in London.
Doug Tetley, Searcys' chief executive, said, 'We are very excited to be a part of the redevelopment of the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and to have a presence in the UK’s second city. The Centenary Brasserie has an incredible location in the heart of the city and we look forward to showcasing some fantastic local food producers.'
The Brasserie will open every day from 11am through to evening dining and late night snacks. It will serve a range of bistro-style dishes, including special pre-theatre menus.
The Café is designed to be a more relaxed environment, serving an all-day range of coffees, sandwiches and cakes, wines, charcuterie boards and other bar snacks. Craft beers and classic cocktails will also be available for after-work and post-theatre customers.
Terry Davies (pictured), Searcys General Manager at The REP, said, “We are very excited to be a part of the fantastic redevelopment of the iconic Birmingham Repertory Theatre and the new Birmingham Library. The Centenary Brasserie has an incredible location in the heart of the City and we look forward to showcasing some fantastic local food producers.
“The theatre is well-known throughout Britain for its innovative and original programming. We hope to add to this iconic status by providing the highest quality gourmet food offering.”
Stuart Rogers, Executive Director at The REP, added, “Searcys is known for its fantastic quality and service, so visitors to The REP can expect not only a wonderful new theatre but also a memorable dining experience.”
