Ibérica to expand outside of London

Spanish restaurant group Ibérica, who operate three sites in the capital, has announced it is looking open 10 new sites outside of London in the next five years.

Led by two-Michelin-starred chef Nacho Manzano, Ibérica recently opened its fourth site in the Capital at the Zig Zag building in Victoria which is expected to open in May 2015. The group is now looking at its first new locations at Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Manchester will be the first City outside of the capital to welcome Ibérica, with the company’s director Marcos Fernández Pardo stating: “I love Manchester. It’s changed dramatically over the past few years, it’s a beautiful city. Living Ventures have done an amazing job changing the restaurant scene there and it’s somewhere that we’re looking at - hopefully we can find a site there.

“We’ve also been looking at Liverpool, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow. But the first step will be Manchester. We’re actively looking and we’d like to open there next year.”

Ibérica opened its first UK site on Great Portland Street in 2007 and now has two other sites in Cabot Square in Canary Wharf which opened in late 2007 and an al fresco dining concept Ibérica La Terraza which opened opposite the Canary Wharf site last year. The group also hopes to expand this concept.
