Hakkasan and MGM to form new global hotel group

Fine dining restaurant group Hakkasan has announced plans to form partnership with MGM Resorts International in a joint venture to manage luxury hotels worldwide.

Hakkasan and MGM will form hotel management company MGM Hakkasan Hospitality, headed by the CEO of Hakkasan group, Neil Mofitt. The group will design, develop and manage luxury non gaming hotels, resorts and residences under four brands – the Bellagio, Hakkasan, MGM Grand and Skyloft.

The partnership began with the successful opening of the Hakkasan Las Vegas restaurant and nightclub at the MGM Grand in April.

The new formed group plans to target international gateway cities and prime resorts destinations, starting with New York, Beverly Hills and London.

All of the hotel and resort projects currently under development by each group will be contributed to the joint venture.

Chairman of Hakkasan Group, Khadem Al Qubaisi said, “While hotel and resort projects have been part of our business plan for some time, it was crucial for us to find the best possible partner that could bring a wealth of experience and skill to the development and operation of branded products, and we believe there is no better choice than MGM Resorts International.”
