Interserve wins £85m Welsh hospital transformation deal


Support services and construction group, Interserve has won an £85m contract to upgrade and refurbish the Prince Charles District General Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales on behalf of Cwm Taf University Health Board.

The project is expected to take seven years to complete with the hospital remaining fully operational throughout the several stages of redevelopment. New jobs will be created for construction and design professionals as part of the project.

Interserve will carry out ground and first floor refurbishment as well as infrastructure and car park upgrades. Facilities will be replaced in operating theatres, radiology, pathology, critical care, pharmacy and outpatient areas, while a helipad will also be relocated. In addition Interserve Engineering Services will replace all existing mechanical and electrical services.
