Burger King cuts sugary soft drinks from US kids meals

Burger King is was cutting soft drinks from its children's meals in the US amid mounting pressure to reduce sugar intake.

Following in the footsteps of rival McDonald's, Burger King said all its childrens' meals would come with either apple juice, fat-free milk or low-fat chocolate milk.

Children can still be served soft drinks, but they will have to be purchased separately from the combo meals designed for them.

Burger King serves some 11 million people a day in 13,000 restaurants and outlets around the world.
