The Baptist Bar & Grill opens within L’oscar Hotel today

Today, The Baptist – a restaurant within the newly opened L’oscar Hotel – officially launches. The restaurant sits in the magnificent domed chapel of the former Baptist Church headquarters in the heart of London's Holborn.

The extravagantly restored octagonal chapel, is accessible through a side entrance on Catton Street. The Baptist is formed of The Baptist Grill on the mezzanine level and The Baptist Bar on the ground floor. The food is overseen by Executive Chef, Tony Fleming, who joins L’oscar from Michelin-starred Angler.

Fleming, who trained under Marco Pierre White and the ‘Grand Masters’ of cuisine, said the hotel was “a one-off opportunity to be part of the creation of a great London destination” and his grill-focussed menu will be guided by the British seasons with a classic and traditional approach.

On offer at lunch are a range of light dishes including Coal roasted beetroot salad and Galloway beef tartare, and in the evening, highlight dishes include Coronation Crab Salad with mango and pickled lime, and Cumbian bavette with chilli oxtail and mushroom ketchup. Signature sharing plates are available from the Charcoal Grill menu include Whole Roast Cornish Turbot and a 14oz Sirloin on the bone, all alongside a perfectly curated French wine list.

The Baptist Bar sits underneath the restaurant and will host a unique and captivating display of live music and entertainment throughout the week, including an international group of live DJ’s, artists and musicians. The bar offers a unique ‘Saint and Sinner’ cocktail menu, based around the Seven virtues and sins – from Charity to Greed; Patience to Wrath, alongside a delicious bar menu and the full restaurant wine list.

In addition to live music, from October, on a Wednesday and Thursday, The Baptist will feature a theatrical showcase of entertainment, including contortionists, aerial acrobats and theatrical performers.
