£425k Scarborough hotel comes to market

Hotel Columbus, in the North Yorkshire seaside resort town of Scarborough, has been brought to market through Christie & Co, with an asking price of £425k.

The 11-bed hotel has a 24-cover breakfast room and guest lounge. Outside, there's a garden and private parking for up to eight cars.

Situated on one of Scarborough’s most popular hotel and guest house locations, Columbus Ravine, Hotel Columbus is within easy reach of the town centre which features a range of tourist attractions including the Open Air Theatre, Sea Life Centre, beach, harbour, and Scarborough Cricket Ground.

The current owners, Brian Purchon and Bonnie Purchon MBE, who was awarded her title for her services to hospitality, are now looking to sell the hotel after 25 years in order to retire.

Matthew Hendry, Business Agent at Christie & Co who is handling the sale, said, “At a time when we are seeing increased interest in hotels and guesthouses across North Yorkshire, I expect this fantastic hotel steeped in history to attract a lot of interest.

“It is a shame to see such great servants to the hospitality industry in Mrs Purchon MBE and Mr Purchon step down, but they leave behind a great opportunity for a new owner to transform and put their own stamp on the ideally situated hotel.”
