Sqaure Pie has embraced the Rugby World Cup by making a special pie for every country, which includes a Square Pie first, a French Canadian Moose pie.
Also on offer: Australia - slow cooked kangaroo with field mushrooms & Aussie Shira; South Africa - springbok sausage in a spicy casserole; Japan - tender chicken with stir fry vegetables in a teriyaki sauce; USA - slow-cooked maple pulled pork in a three bean barbecue sauce; and Scotland - haggis in a rich whisky sauce with swede and potatoes.
The firm is selling the pies alongside its usual range in the outlets on the day the respective teams are playing. So there can be up to 8 specials per day.
Each pie sale counts as a point so customers have winning and losing teams each day as their pies ‘play off’. These results feed into live league tables and these best performing pies go through to the next round in the same format as Rugby World Cup. This carries on until the Pie World Cup final is reached on 31 October.
