Tortilla to open two Nottingham outlets

Mexican casual-dining chain, Tortilla is to open two new restaurants in Nottingham offering its range of burritos and tacos from breakfast time through to the evening.

The company has taken over the former Phones 4U shop, in Clumber Street, and plans to open next month. A second restaurant will open in the Victoria Centre later in the year.

Rob Lucy, head of property acquisitions at Tortilla, said, “We are really excited to be opening Tortilla Nottingham later this year. Nottingham is one of the top retail destinations in the UK and this location is a key part of our growth strategy.

“We have a strong real estate portfolio across the UK and this latest high quality site will further enhance our position as the stand-out offer in the UK’s fast-growing Mexican market.”

Tortilla was founded by Californian restaurateur Brandon Stephens and opened its first restaurant in Islington in 2007. The business has since grown with 18 London branches, followed by openings in Brighton, Leeds, Liverpool and Southampton.

The firm celebrated the launch of its 23rd restaurant in Cardiff yesterday, where they gave away 1,000 burritos.
