Lounger's casual dining brand, Cosy Club is aiming to open a site in Fossgate, York as plans submitted by Fossgate Developments to convert a shop into a restaurant have been approved.
The current shop, which was formerly York's first purpose-built picture house, is set to close in late March with the new eatery to hopefully open later this year.
The new Cosy Club could create up to 50 new jobs, including 30 front of house jobs and 20 kitchen roles.
The Cosy Club brand offers home cooked food, local ales, cocktails and a substantial wine list.
The brand operates 12 branches across the UK, including Manchester, Birmingham, and Cardiff, with the 13th site set to open this Saturday in Hereford.
