Monty’s Deli to launch Shabbat Dinner

London N1 restaurant, Monty’s Deli is to launch a family-style Shabbat Dinner this summer for Friday evenings.

Featuring traditional recipes with a modern Monty’s twist, the Shabbat Dinner is a chance for friends and family to come together to exchange stories and kibbitz at the end of a working week.

The Shabbat dinner will be served to share, the table laden with house baked challah rolls and chopped liver to start, and a taste of Palwins no.10 Kiddush wine. This will be followed by a tureen of chicken soup with kneidlach and lokshen. Then, taking centre stage, a roasted whole chicken to be carved by the chosen guest, with golden roast potatoes, spring greens, gravy and Monty’s house chrain, a horseradish and beetroot condiment.

For dessert, Lokshen pudding, a sweet baked noodle dish that is rarely seen outside of the family table. This can all be washed down with Monty’s house wine and their L’chaim drinks menu – a selection of short drinks, from traditional Slivovitz plum brandy, to fine whiskies.

“Until I was around 16 I had no idea people would go out on a Friday night, I thought everybody was having chopped liver and roast chicken with their grandparents. To this day I still think that's the better option! We want to offer our guests something approaching that lovely experience of the many shared family Shabbat dinners I have enjoyed so much.' says Mark Ogus, Founder of Monty’s Deli.

The Shabbat Dinner menu is available for a minimum of 4 people and will run every Friday starting from 7 July. Orders must be placed 48 hours in advance.
