Dishoom launches first-ever at-home cookery kit

London-based Dishoom, that pays homage to the Irani cafés and the food of all Bombay, is set to launch its first-ever at-home cookery kit, providing patrons with the ingredients (and the know-how) to create the cafee’s much-loved Bacon Naan Rolls in their own kitchen.

From tomorrow (18 June), lovers of the breakfast classic can get the ingredients to create two first-class Bacon Naan Rolls dishoomed from the cafe´ kitchens direct to their door, including top-notch produce and dough balls that are ready to roll, bake, assemble and eat. Each kit will also contain the requisite tea and spices to brew a batch of Dishoom’s Masala Chai, allowing patrons to partake in the full cafe´ experience at home.

For every Bacon Naan Roll Kit sold, Dishoom will donate a meal to Magic Breakfast, their long-term charity partner that provides free, nutritious meals to children that might otherwise go hungry. Initially available to neighbours of the King’s Cross, Kensington and Shoreditch cafe´s, a limited number of kits will be released for same-day delivery at 3pm every afternoon through Dishoom’s website (www.dishoom.com/bacon-naan-roll).

Like its cafe´ counterpart, the cookery kit will feature top-class produce prepared by Dishoom’s big- hearted team of chef-wallas. Each kit serves two and contains smoked streaky bacon from Ramsay of Carluke (matured in the traditional Ayrshire way and smoked over applewood and beechwood chips), three naan doughballs (enough for two plus a spare for experimentation), tomato-chilli jam (Dishoom’s sweet, sharp, spicy signature sauce), fresh coriander and cream cheese.

Each kit also contains loose leaf Darjeeling tea and chai spices (black peppercorns, cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, cloves) for recreating Dishoom’s much-loved Masala Chai (just add milk and sugar to brew). The kit comes with full cookery instructions, including the method for achieving pillowy-soft naan perfection at home – a handy video to help first-timers will also be available online.

The Bacon Naan Roll Kit is not the only way patrons can satisfy their feasting needs from afar. Since the start of June, Dishoom’s neighbours in King’s Cross, Kensington and Shoreditch have also been able to avail themselves of a delivery menu of cafee classics. Small plates, including Vada Pau, Chilli Chicken and Keema Pau, are served alongside heartier dishes of Biryani, Chicken Ruby, Mattar Paneer, and (of course) the much-missed House Black Daal, and a selection of breads, rice and sides.

A first-rate selection of tipples is also available, including beers, wines and those nostalgic Bombay sodas, Thums Up, Limca and Pallonji’s Raspberry Soda.

Each delivery includes finishing instructions for best enjoyment. For those committed to recreating the cafe experience in full, additional enjoyment can be found in the Dishoom playlist available at https://spoti.fi/2YHC8W6. As in the cafes, for every meal Dishoom serves for delivery at lunch and later, they donate a meal to Akshaya Patra, another of their long-term charity partners providing healthy school meals for children in India who might otherwise go hungry.

The Dishoom delivery menu is live now and is available daily 11.30am to 10.30pm. The Bacon Naan Roll Kit will join the menu from tomorrow, priced at £16, with a limited number available from 3pm daily via www.dishoom.com/bacon-naan-roll.

Patrons can check to see if they are within the existing delivery zones at www.dishoom.com/order-online. Those not yet within the delivery radius of these three cafe´s can stay tuned for more updates – particulars will be shared in due course.
