Crust Bros to open second London site in July

Award-winning pizza restaurant, Crust Bros has confirmed that it will launch its second site at Sambrook's Brewery Tap, part of the Ram Quarter development in Wandsworth, this July.

The launch is the next opening from the pizza venture by Joe Moore, who opened Crust Bros’ first bricks-and-mortar site in Waterloo in 2017.

Opening on Saturday 17 July, Crust Bros will be the sole food supplier at Sambrook’s Brewery Tap at Ram Quarter, the new South London retail and residential destination by Greenland Group.

Sambrook’s moved its headquarters and brewing operations to the historic Wandsworth site earlier this year, which was once home to Young’s and, having been established in 1533, remains the longest continually-running brewery in Britain.

Crust Bros will serve the expansive, 160-cover taproom with a concise menu of their signature pizzas to be paired alongside beers from craft beer specialists, Sambrook's. There is also a large outdoor area with 50 covers, and a private events space that seats 40, with the venue reserved largely for walk-ins.

Crust Bros is committed to creating some of London’s best, most consistent bases made entirely from scratch using 00 flour, fresh yeast and a 48 hour-proved dough for pizzas characterised by their pillowy-soft, leopard print-charred, big crusts.

These bases are then topped with some of the very best available ingredients from Italy and the UK, from San Marzano tomatoes and Neapolitan mozzarella to salami and Calabrian ‘nduja, before being baked in a Neapolitan oven at 500 degrees.

Crust Bros was born in 2016 and is the brainchild of Joe Moore, a self-proclaimed 'dough geek', who quit his grad scheme job to search for the perfect pizza. A six-week tour of Italy cemented this passion and gave him the tools and necessary precision to make some of London’s very best pizza.

Years spent honing the craft on the street food scene in London led Joe to open his first restaurant in Waterloo in 2017. Since then, Crust Bros has served over a million pizzas and won gold at the National Pizza Awards, Salvo 1968 European Pizza Competition and Pizza and Pasta Awards.

For every pizza sold at Sambrook's, Crust Bros will plant a tree in partnership with sustainable business movement Earthly - at no extra cost to their customers. This is an extension of Crust Bros’ ‘1 pizza sold = 1 tree planted’ promise, launched in April 2021 to tackle the climate crisis. To date, over 10,000 trees have been planted.

Of the launch, Moore said, “Sambrook’s approached us back in 2020 and within five minutes of seeing their new Ram Quarter site I knew that this was a match made in heaven.

'What really sealed the deal was team Sambrook’s love for the project, their passion for their own beer and, beyond that, their determination that this will be London’s most exciting venue – where amazing beer meets unbelievable pizza and knockout hospitality.

'We are so excited to welcome our first guests in July 2021 and hope this will be the first of many ventures together!”

Kieran Monteiro, Chief Marketing Officer at Sambrook's Pub Company, added, “When we were planning the Sambrook’s Brewery Tap, we quickly decided that there is no greater combination than beer and pizza so we had to find a partner who cares about great pizza as much as we care about great beer!

'As soon as we tried Crust Bros we knew that we had found exactly what we were looking for and that we had to make Sambrook’s X Crust Bros happen.

'We are proud to serve our beer with Crust Bros pizza, we are delighted that our paths crossed to form this team and we cannot wait to show you what we’ve been working on when we open later this summer.”
