Third M restaurant to open in Canary Wharf in Spring 2022

M Restaurants is to open M Newfoundland next spring. Overlooking both the River Thames and waterways of Canary Wharf, the 10,000 square foot drinking and dining venue is housed in a 226M diamond tower (the UK’s sixth tallest building), and is destined to become the new hotspot for city workers and destination diners alike.

This will be the third ‘M’; the brand founded in 2014 boasts multi-award-winning restaurants in both Threadneedle Street and Victoria Street famed for their wagyu beef, ‘gastro-playground’ reputation and private member’s lounges which have entertained the top tier of business, politicians and film stars including Bill Gates, Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Idris Elba and Madonna.

The Rene Decker designed venue, which is inspired by the French Riviera and in particular vintage Riva Yachts, is encased in 360 degree floor to ceiling glass , filled with teak and leather and showcases ‘Bang and Olufsen’ sound and visual design throughout.

The two-storey haven of hospitality will offer a destination bar, 180 cover dining room, two private dining rooms, a wine tasting room, a ‘wagyu and wine café’ and a private members lounge.

Strictly limited membership applications will open in January. Benefits include exclusive access to the lounge, which is home to member parties, wine tastings, pool parties, an annual polo event at Ham, along with special membership prices for ‘M Experiences’ such as International Rugby in Twickenham and on the M trackside yacht at the Monaco grand prix.

Executive Chef Michael Reid has designed a menu to transport you to the Mediterranean. The playful style of cooking using ice, smoke, wood and coal showcases the world’s finest beef and meat cuts.

9+ grade Blackmore wagyu and 10+ grade Kobe steaks will sit alongside some new favorites including stuffed lamb rack, Iberico pork, salt baked bonito and dry aged king fish tail with crispy crackling. The ‘ice’ section of the menu will offer the best of the sea with dishes such as Cobia tartare, octopus carpaccio and Lobster, wasabi and avocado salad.

Newfoundland will lead the way in Rare Restaurants sustainability and zero food waste project: working closely with their producers to serve carbon neutral beef from farms which set the global benchmark in husbandry and ethical farming, next to sustainably sourced fish and herbs and leaves in partnership with Crate to plate* in Canary Wharf itself.

CEO and Founder Martin Williams said, “We are delighted to announce the location of our third M venue. We secured this site in 2016 and creating it (whilst seeing the spectacular 200M tower rise from the ground) has been a 5-year passion project, during which time we have seen the M restaurants in Threadneedle Street and Victoria Street become favourites for Londoners and win numerous awards.

“M Newfoundland will be our most ambitious and spectacular project to date – a gastro-playground which offers our award-winning levels of hospitality and an immersive menu which includes both the world’s highest quality beef and finest wines; I have no doubt it will become the number one drinking and dining venue in Canary Wharf.”
