Crown Cellars to launch new wine portfolio next month

This May, the specialist wine division of Carlsberg UK, Crown Cellars is launching its 2019/20 Wine Portfolio.

With over 500 wines overall, this year’s edition will feature 20 new specially-selected wines, with 5 exclusive to Crown Cellars, joining the collection, including Domaine Horgelus Gros Manseng Sauvignon, Les Vignes d’Héloïse Pinot Noir Rosé IGP and Pocket Watch Shiraz.

Crown Cellars, which has been supplying wines to the on-trade for over 25 years, has drawn on the expert knowledge and experience of Wine Buyer, Louise Boddington and Master of Wine, Jonathan Pedley to create this year’s selection. Alongside the main brochure, this year Crown Cellars is also launching an informative and easy-to-digest Tasting Guide for operators.

The Tasting Guide will feature Jonathan Pedley’s ‘Pedley’s Picks’ – a roundup of his personal favourites from this year’s collection – as well as helpful information for the on-trade, simple-to-follow guidelines around wine tasting, identifying styles and pricing, as well as insight, advice, and training support.

This year’s Crown Cellars Wine Guide will also see the continuation of its Quirky Wines range to continue provide choice for operators, drive innovation and keep wine selections exciting and fresh. There will be four new additions under the labels Vinivision and To Be Continued.

The Vinivision wines, both Australian, include a dry and aromatic Sauvignon Blanc, and a juicy and ripe Shiraz Viognier, while the Californian To Be Continued label includes a fruity Ruby Cabernet and a full-bodied and rich Chardonnay.

Also exclusive to the range will be two Australian wines from Pocket Watch – a fresh Shiraz with a touch of oak, and a light and vibrant Chardonnay.

To accompany the launch this year, Crown Cellars will be undergoing a brand-refresh which will include a new and improved website. The new website will include the full wine range, monthly product spotlights, food pairing information, tasting videos and customer testimonials.

Jonathan Pedley, Crown Cellars’ Master of Wine, said, “For nearly three decades we have built a fantastic relationship with the trade. They know and respect us for our insight, knowledge and experience, and in turn we listen to the market and adapt to what operators and bartenders are telling us.

“This year, we had the task of trying over 125 different wines. We have wines from across the globe, from the new world and old wine producing countries, including Australia, California, New Zealand, France and Georgia.

'When narrowing down our choice, we listened to what the on-trade told us about consumer demands and needs, and from this whittled it down to just 20 additions. From the new selection in this year’s range, I have chosen my top dozen in ‘Pedley’s Picks’, which can be found in the accompanying Tasting Guide.”

The new Crown Cellars portfolio and website will launch from mid-May 2019, offering over 500 wines.
