Welbilt hosts food safety & professional barista skills training

Welbilt has gone above and beyond in order to deliver seamless aftersales service and support, by hosting food safety and professional barista skills training for its staff and key dealer/distributor partners.

Having invested in the company’s Culinary Team, training individuals up to Level 4 Food Safety and Hygiene Management, Welbilt now has the official capability to teach others up to Level 3, under the accredited Chartered Institute of Environmental Health guidelines.

Demonstrating best practice, the first cohort to undertake the ‘Introductory Food Safety’ Qualification were a selection of Welbilt’s internal staff, but in 2020, this will be rolled out to selected dealer and distributor partners.

In addition, Welbilt has also invested in Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) professional barista training for staff following the integration of the Crem portfolio earlier this year.

Allowing the team to showcase the capabilities of the equipment range, those with barista training can offer a more seamless service to customers, as Steve Hemsil - Sales Director – UK & Ireland, Welbilt explained, “Demonstrating our commitment to continuous professional development, we are delighted to offer food safety and SCA accredited barista qualifications as part of our staff training initiatives.”

Hemsil continued, “We have already made use of these new training capabilities by arranging for Welbilt UK’s sales team to participate in the Introductory Food Safety training – a short course that allows the team to confidently and safely handle food at exhibitions, customer demonstrations and masterclasses.

'Likewise, by completing internal barista training with our SCA training partners, the team has become competent in the demonstration of basic barista skills, allowing them to showcase the true capabilities of the Crem machines and offer greater support to our customers.”

So successful were these initial training events that Welbilt has announced it will host two food and hygiene training sessions for UK dealers.

Running in February 2020 from both the Guilford and Sheffield development kitchens, these free of charge training sessions will provide Welbilt’s network of UK dealers with the opportunity to achieve level 1 certification for food safety and hygiene – yet another example of how Welbilt is going above and beyond to provide the highest levels of support and training.
