10m refurb of Swansea retail park gets green light

Hammerson has won approval for the £10m refurbishment of Parc Tawe retail park in Swansea, which could create more than 300 jobs.

Hammerson, the developer and owner of the complex, was given permission to redevelop the retail park last August but the council imposed 35 conditions, including the ban on approaching major retailers, which it said was needed to protect its own plans for the city centre.

The redevelopment will create six new retail units, four new restaurants and a drive through coffee pod. This is in addition to upgrading the existing retail fascias for leisure brands including Odeon and TenPin and a flagship Toys R Us store.
