Apetito achieves sustainable fish certification

Leading meal producer for the healthcare sector, Apetito has achieved Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Chain of Custody certification for its commitment to sustainable fish.

Lee Sheppard, Apetito's Director of Public Policy & External Affairs, said, “We are delighted to have taken this strong and decisive commitment to 100% demonstrably sustainable fish. Forty of our fish dishes now contain MSC certified sustainable fish – including 100% of all cod, plaice, pollock and hoki meals.”

George Clark, UK Commercial Manager at MSC, said, “Apetito’s MSC certification is a fantastic achievement and supplying an incredible 3.2m meals means that there is now access to MSC dishes where previously it has not existed on this scale. The business has made a great commitment and are certainly leading the way in this sector.

'We know apetito’s new certification will inspire others in the health and social care sector to discover the great range and availability of MSC sustainable fish and support the mission of maintaining good fish stocks in healthy oceans.”

Apetito is committed to provide the best for its clients and follows The British Dietetic Association (BDA) guidelines which state that fish must be offered at least twice a week on a hospital and care home menu, one of which should be an oily variety.
