Barclays pledges lending support to SMEs impacted by Carillion

Barclays is encouraging any customer or client who is affected by Carillion going into liquidation to contact the banking firm for support.

Ian Rand, Chief Executive of Barclays Business Banking, (pictured) said, “Barclays is doing everything in our power to support any customer or client who is impacted by Carillion going into liquidation.

“We are aware that some banks have announced a specific fund to help SME clients. We’ve chosen not to put any limit on the amount of support and lending we are willing to provide. We will look at increasing overdrafts, interest only loan repayments and immediate help with cash flow on a case by case basis.'

Rand continued, “We have set up a dedicated helpline and have been proactively contacting our SME clients who work with Carillion to offer our support.

“Our national network of Relationship Managers has been reaching out to clients all week, and will continue to offer support and finance to businesses in need.

“In addition, we have £600m of pre-assessed lending limits already in place for SME clients and contractors, who can apply for these funds instantly via their mobile or online banking.”
