Ranier Becker to open two new Roka sites

Rainer Becker is set to double up the number of Roka restaurants in the capital next year, with a new site in Mayfair opening in February, following by a site in Aldwych opening in the summer.

The Mayfiar site will be located on North Audley Street and will be a ‘relaxed yet elegant’ dining destination. Meanwhile, Roka Aldwych ‘will deliver a new dynamic altogether with unique design elements in both the restaurant and bar’.

Both sites will feature a menu designed by group executive chef Hamish Brown. Using the very best seasonal produce, the menu will have a contemporary Japanese feel offering a variety of iconic Roka dishes alongside new creations specific to each location. Dishes will be aimed for sharing, with sushi and sashimi also on offer to compliment the food from the restaurants main food offering from the charcoal robata grill.

Becker founded the Roka brand in 2004 with a site in London’s Charlotte Street. There are now additional locations in Canary Wharf and Hong Kong.

He also co founded Zuma with current business partner Arjun Waney in 2002, and since grown the brand to sites in London, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Dubai, Miami, Bangkok and Abu Dhabi. The duo have more international openings in the pipeline.

Earlier this year, Becker and Waney also opened Oblix – a rotisserie and grill restaurant and lounge bar situated on the 32nd floor of The Shard development in London.
