The duo behind the Sri Lankan eatery Kolamba is gearing up to unveil their second restaurant in London's vibrant Spitalfields district this spring, marking a new chapter five years since their initial debut.
Kolamba East, founded by Eroshan and Aushi Meewella, will expand upon the culinary delights of their flagship location in Soho, celebrating contemporary Sri Lankan home-cooking with an array of tantalising flavors.
Drawing inspiration from their nostalgic recollections of Colombo and the diverse culinary traditions of the Sinhalese, Tamil, Moor, Burger (Dutch), and Malay communities, the menu at Kolamba East showcases a rich tapestry of flavors and dishes.
At the new 92-cover establishment, patrons can expect larger feasting plates alongside Kolamba's renowned 'short eat' snacks, hoppers, and sambols, ensuring a delightful culinary experience for every guest.
Additionally, Kolamba East will offer two exclusive private dining rooms and a dedicated bar, where guests can savor cocktails crafted with Sri Lankan spirits, adding a unique and spirited touch to the dining experience.
The restaurant has been designed by Annie Harrison of London studio Fare Inc. in partnership with the Kolamba founders' property development and design company, WhiteBox London.
Kolamba East will showcase the talents of local artists and suppliers, featuring works by acclaimed batik designer Sonali Dharmawardena and artist Pragreeth Manohansa, adding an authentic and culturally rich aesthetic to the space.
