Six reveals investment plans for Edinburgh

Six Company, the Scottish firm behind the Six by Nico restaurants, has unveiled ambitious development and investment plans for Edinburgh. These plans include the introduction of Somewhere by Nico.

Chief Executive and Founder Nico Simeone has confirmed plans for two new openings in Edinburgh and a £2 million investment in the city's restaurant scene. This investment includes the establishment of a new Six by Nico restaurant in the capital's West End, along with the introduction of Somewhere by Nico Edinburgh. This immersive cocktail venue aims to redefine the traditional bar experience by integrating multisensory elements, mixology, and storytelling.

After six successful years of operation in Scotland's capital and the establishment of sixteen sites across the UK and Ireland since 2017, the brand is entering a new phase with a fresh look for its Edinburgh customers. Six by Nico Edinburgh West End will offer guests the familiar experience they know and love, set in elegant surroundings that complement all aspects of their product. The brand's current Six by Nico location on Hanover Street will continue to serve guests, providing two city locations for diners. Six by Nico Edinburgh West End is scheduled to open on Queensferry Street in June 2024.

The second investment in Scotland's capital will introduce a new cocktail tasting experience to Edinburgh's West End. Somewhere by Nico Edinburgh is an innovative concept aiming to reshape the traditional bar and cocktail experience by seamlessly integrating storytelling, multi-sensory mixology, and immersive experiences. Following the successful launch of its first location in Glasgow in January 2024, inspired by Six by Nico, Somewhere by Nico Edinburgh will follow suit. Every six weeks, it will curate a six-stage cocktail experience inspired by a themed world, transforming the venue into Somewhere anew.

At the core of the experience lies storytelling, where guests are immersed as adventurers while mixologists take on the role of narrators, weaving enhanced narratives into each drink. The mystical decor will transport patrons to a dreamlike realm, engaging all senses throughout a meticulously crafted two-hour cocktail journey priced at £65 per person. Somewhere by Nico Edinburgh is set to open in early June 2024, conveniently located beside the new Six by Nico Edinburgh West End on Queensferry Street, occupying the former Foundry 39 building on Queensferry Rd, Edinburgh.

Six Company Chief Executive and founder Nico Simeone said: “Our team is driven daily by the challenge to constantly create and reinvent. We are dedicated to being different, never resting on our laurels, and continuously striving to create the best customer experiences. Our second Six by Nico site in Edinburgh City Centre underlines our commitments to the city and provides our guests with more dining options, as well as the introduction of Somewhere by Nico, our latest brand that reinvents the conventional cocktail experience.”

Since launching their initial restaurant in Glasgow in 2017, Six by Nico has proudly served over 12 million dishes across sixteen city locations throughout the UK and Ireland. Additionally, they have crafted 49 distinct tasting menus for customers to indulge in. The expansion into Six by Nico Edinburgh West End and Somewhere by Nico Edinburgh projects will generate approximately 60 new employment opportunities.
