Caterlink Retains £7.5m Schools Contract

Caterlink, the BaxterStorey-owned education caterer, has hung on to its school meals contracts in Camden and Islington, after the London boroughs combined their catering services in an attempt to save more than £1m a year. The contract, worth £7.5m, will see the firm delivering 17,000 meals a day to more than 100 schools across the boroughs.

Caterlink started working with Camden in 2006 and Islington in 2007 and has helped to drive lunchtime uptake to an average of over 70% across the boroughs, which is substantially higher than the national average in England of 41.4%. Islington Council expects the combined catering contract to deliver annual savings of £900,000, while Camden aims to save £270,000 per annum.
