Masterchef contestant becomes head chef at DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh

The DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre has bolstered its team with the appointment of a new Head Chef, Morten Rengtved.

Danish-born Rengtved brings a wealth of experience to the restaurant, having previously worked at the King’s Manor Hotel in Portobello and the Dalmahoy Marriott Hotel & Country Club.

He also took part in the hit BBC show Masterchef, reaching the quarter finals of the hotly contested competition in 2012.

Rengtved has already started work on updating the menu at the hotel, managed by Redefine|BDL Hotels, the UK’s largest independent hotel management company.

He describes the new menu at the Bread Street Brasserie as modern British with a unique twist and says his favourite dish on the menu is cock-a-leekie terrine.

He enjoys taking humble produce and using it to create something unique, special and surprising. He also loves to make classic dishes different by putting his own twist on his recipes.

Ronald Little, General Manager at DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre, said, “The Bread Street Brasserie has built up an impressive reputation and I am certain that Morten’s passion and drive will help cement the restaurant’s popularity.

“Morten is a highly motivated and vastly experienced chef and I am in no doubt that he will prove to be a perfect fit within the hotel’s dedicated team.”

Rengtved added, “It’s a great privilege to be able to work in such a wonderful hotel in the heart of a beautiful city like Edinburgh.

“I’m looking forward to using all my experience to make every meal at the Bread Street Brasserie a memorable one. When it comes to food, my mantra is to take something simple and make it different.”
