Unilever reports 4.1% sales growth

Unilever has beaten 2015 expectations, with turnover increased by 10% to £41bn and underlying sales increased 4.1%.

The company saw growth in its savoury goods and ice cream units. Unilever has recently acquired US sorbet maker Talenti and Italian ice cream maker Grom.

Sales of spreads, including Flora, which the group spun off last year as a standalone unit, fell again, this time by 5%. This weighed on the food business, where sales rose 1.5% and operating profit margins fell.
