UK consumers still can't seem to get enough of gourmet burgers, and riding on the back of this seemingly never-ending trend, Fat Hippo is to open in Saddler Street in Durham city this weekend.
In 2010, Hippo opened its first branch in Newcastle, with a second following - named Fat Hippo Underground - in Newcastle city centre.
The chain serves up freshly ground and hand pressed burgers, with toppings such as peanut butter, bacon jam, candied bacon, and deep fried gherkins. Sides include sweet potato fries, onion rings, and slaw.
Drinks include Fat Hippo IPA and Fat Hippo Hillbilly draught beer, Naughty Shakes such as PB & Jack - Jack Daniels, peanut butter, honey & vanilla ice cream, and Naughty Shots, like Chilli Black - Tequila washed down with chilli juice.
