National Lido of Wales welcomes 60,000 visitor of season


Lido Ponty, the National Lido of Wales, has welcomed its 60,000 visitor of the 2017 season, taking the grand total of visitors to 160,000 since opening in 2015.

The 2017 season at Lido Ponty started on April 8, during the Easter school holidays and, despite mixed weather, thousands have once again visited the facility from across the county borough and beyond. The season fir Wales' premier outdoor family water attraction closes on September 10.

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, said, 'We are once again having an incredible season at Lido Ponty, welcoming visitors from across Rhondda Cynon Taf and beyond.

'It is overwhelming to think we have had 160,000 visitors since we opened in 2015 and I am delighted that we now reach another milestone in welcoming our 60,000 visitor for the 2017 season alone.'

Children under the age of 16 are able to swim free at Lido Ponty, with a minimal charge of £1 for adults and £2.50 for activities.

Open daily 7:30am to 7:15pm, Lido Ponty has three heated swimming pools (main pool, activity pool and splash pool) offering great opportunities for families, dedicated swimmers, social swimmers and thrill-seekers of all ages and abilities, whatever the weather.

Visitors can find food and beverages at the Waterside Cafe, which is open every day from 9am, all year round.

The cafe offers a hot and cold range of homemade meals from breakfast and lunch to a cake selection and a a full barista service offering freshly-brewed Welsh coffee. There are special menus for Sundays and also for children.

The grab-and-go’ range includes: boxed salads, fruit pots, dessert pots, speciality filled rolls, baguettes and bloomer sandwiches.

The cafe also hosts ‘Splish Splash’ party packages that include pizza and BBQ parties.
