Cake Box sees six-month revenue soar by 44% driven by 15 new sites


East London-based franchise, Cake Box Holdings, trading as Eggfree Cake Box has posted increasing sales and profits for the six months to to the end of September, as it rolls out more outlets.

Revenue rose by 44% to £8.3m, driven by a record 15 store openings. Like-for-like sales increased by 4.4%, while online sales rose 86% to £1.99m.

The company's full-year sales shot up from from £8.7m in 2017 to £12.8m in the year to March 2018.

Cake Box customers can order the egg-free, fresh cream, personalised celebration cakes and cupcakes, then collect them in one hour. There are also ready-to-go cakes and cake slices too.

Founded and owned by cousins Sukh Chamdal and Pardip Dass, the company was formed in 2008 and launched as a franchise a year later. It now has 101 franchised sites across the UK.

Cake Box went public in June, netting the pair £17m and giving the firm a worth of around £43.2m. The brand aims to grow to 250 sites in the coming years.
